Listen: Dr. Debbie Chen Shares the Story Behind Hydrostasis

Every company has an origin story, and in our latest podcast feature, Hydrostasis Founder and CEO Dr. Debbie Chen shares how a scientific observation she nearly dismissed ultimately led to the creation of Hydrostasis and the GECA Watch.

While completing her PhD, Dr. Chen discovered a unique water signal in her research but set the idea aside for nearly a decade. It wasn't until years later (after experiencing chronic muscle cramps during amateur Muay Thai training and facing a dehydration-related health scare herself) that she revisited the concept that would become the foundation of our technology.

In her conversation with Neal Bloom, Dr. Chen discusses why she believes hydration is one of the most actionable health metrics wearable technology can provide, the challenges of building a medical wearable from the ground up, and how customer feedback has shaped the evolution of the GECA Watch.

The episode also explores the importance of inclusive health data, the future of hydration monitoring, and our mission to make hydration a recognized vital sign.

We hope you'll tune in to hear the story behind Hydrostasis, the lessons we've learned along the way, and where we're headed next.
